Featured Alumni

The Alpha Xi Chapter was founded in January of 1961, when the University of North Carolina was instead the Women's College of Greensboro.  We have hundreds of alumni that are active in the Greensboro area, North Carolina, and the country.  Below you will find updates on the ways many of them continue to advance music in their communities.

Charles Parker

Charles Parker graduated from UNCG with a BM in Music Education in 2014 and from Florida State Univeristy with an MM in Music Education with a focus in Music Therapy.  He rushed Mu Phi Epsilon in the spring of 2011.

He is currently living in High Point, NC, and teaches at High Point Central High School as the lead Chorus, Orchestra, and Music Theory teacher.  Additionally, he is the Music Director, violinist and violist, and an attendee of Mercy Hill Church at their High Point Campus. He is also playing with the High Point University Community Orchestra as assistant principal in the 2nd violin section. Other symphony positions include those with the Danville Symphony and with the Greensboro Philharmonia.

Away from playing, he enjoys sponsoring the A Cappella club, Orchestra club, Korean Culture, and Tri-M club at his high school. He also enjoys watching anime, napping, leading a community group with his church, and spending time with his friends.

"Wait. What's time?! The mystery every music major wishes to solve."

When Charles was a member of our chapter, he remembers being interested in and helping with fundraisers before he rushed.  He also recalls movie nights that he would have with his Big, Julie.  Throughout his membership, he enjoyed putting together a family tree of Bigs and Littles for our chapter.

"Those are just a few [of my favorite memories], and now, back to supervising students for our Korean Culture club!"
